Hi all
I am writing this on behalf of my mum (as she dosent know how to work forums!
) She did a DMP with PayPlan between 2008-2009 and paid back everything in full. PayPlan told her that because she paid back alot of the interest as well that her credit rating would be ok. Since paying everything off, she has tried to get back on the straight and narrow and get a new bank account for everything to come out of etc...and been refused! She recently tried to get some more credit as shes in a much better place but was refused again.
She is rather confused as to how long it takes to get credit back to normal again? I've told her she needs to check her score on one of the sites and she's going to do that now but just wondered if anyone could give her some advise until then?
Thank you

Hi
Has she got copies of her credit files? When did she first have problems with her debts. start missing payments etc? Usually on a DMP your creditors issue defaults and these stay on file for 6years. She needs to get copies of her credit files if she hasn't already (£2 for the statutory report or free trials if she will remeber to cancel - probably best to get both experian and equifax) to see what is recorded on there, what defaults etc.
Then she'll need to slowly rebuild her credit have a read of this - 'Bad Credit' Credit Cards: Use them to rebuild credit ratingA smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0
