Italy and Gold

Italy is known to have very big debt issues that are likely to come to some sort of crunch time in the next 12 months. They also have very large gold reserves although not nearly enough to cover the debt.
Things however get very interesting if gold appreciates greatly. Yes I know they are normally limited in the amount of gold they can sell, but given the choice between a default and selling gold I now which is the most likely.
What happens to the price of gold if Italy sells its gold which is equivalent to about 1 years global gold production?
