Help, DMP advice

Our first payment is due to CCCS on 1/10/2011. New account sorted and approx 75per of creditors have agreed terms.
However the Halifax are being a pain. First they refused the terms as the offered amount was above min payment and we were not in arrears. Then after contacting the Halifax they asked me to re submit all paperwork as we are now in arrears and payments will increase as special deal terminated. theynow state they will not accept DMP due to recent spending. I have not used the card since deciding to take up DMP plus prior to this we were having to use cards as no other available funds!!!
Has anyone else encounteredthis will the Halifax. If not what will happen next????/
Please reply as this is soooooooooo stressful.

I think a lot of msers call Halifax hellifax when it comes to DMPs - try not to overworry - go thro CCCS talk to them about the problems you are experiencing and then potentially take their advice. No company wants to go down quietly when you are talking about making token payments, having interest stopped etc - but under government guidelines they are supposed to cooperate when you use debt charities etc. RAS or George UK or the ask CCCS debt adviser thread may be able to help with some wording for a letter to send to Halifax to get them off your case.
It is normal from what I can gather to have adverse calls and letters and default notices when you first start a DMP - the companies just want their money after all - After a while tho it usually settles down. There are letters you can use - If you go on the DMP supporters thread - they can probably give you them.

Hellifax are always a pain. When I started my DMP the phone went spookily quiet for the first month or so. Some of my creditors have never been in touch again since then. It does all settle down with time.
The golden rule I found is not to speak over the phone with them, and just do everything in writing. I know from experience the stress of all this and they may try to exploit that by persuading you into increased payments that you won't be able to afford. Caller display is a wonderful gadget! I simply let it ring and if it's an 08xx number or one I don't recognise I just let it go to the answerphone. It puts you back in control. Oh, and there's nothing wrong with that.
Good luck with your DMP journey0
