appliance for grinding nuts/making breadcrumbs

Does anyone know of any kitchen gadget/electrical thingy that i can buy that will grind up nuts and also make breadcrumbs??

I don't want to get a food processor, as they're really far too big for what i need. Also, the coffee bean grinders are too small!

anyone got any ideas ( not too pricey please!)

thanks

  • Hi, try the Braun hand blender here. This link is for Argos, but:

    a. there are other models
    b. you may get it cheaper elsewhere

This is very popular, makes great chopped nuts, breadcrumbs, and soup.

  • I picked up a mini food chopper in Robert Dyas a few weeks ago for about £10 - my kitchen is really too small for anything bigger.

    Found a link: here

    Hi Jolaaled,

I have the braun stick blender that Penelope Penguin linked to and the chopping attachment is great for both breadcrumbs and nuts.

I've been looking at this and thought the Braun MR 6550 here looked good. Has anyone got one? It seems expensive but useful. Is there a good alternative?
We don't need to do it perfectly - good enough is exactly that GOOD ENOUGH.

I use a Braun multi aswell, if you want a basic stick blender which will probably do the job fine try argos or tescos.

(Mines the older version of the multi you can get now,http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/4220398.htm and never failed me in 8 years had it since DS1 was a baby for his foods, if I had to replace mine, that is what I would buy, think they had them for under £20 in Tescos!)
One day I might be more organised...........
    GC: £200
Slinkies target 2018 - another 70lb off (half way to what the NHS says) so far 25lb
  • If you have a liquidizer, that will make breadcrumbs. Just rip the bread into 1 inch chunks and bizz. Probably ok for chopping peanuts or other small nuts too.

I think this model is on sale in tescos for £19.94. Obviously you get clubcard points and you can use vouchers to get the cost down a bit.:-)

I've got a Moulinex Mulititrio. I bought it from Robert Dyas a couple of years ago and it was £16.00. It is really good for herbs, breadcrumbs, couple of onions etc. About the size of the ones they use on Ready Steady Cook.

I use a 'Magic Bullet'. You can get them in Makro and other places for about £10 (I paid £30 for mine about 18 months ago).

It's basically the size of a cup and takes up so little space on the bench top that I use it all the time. The attachment cups are microwaveable as well, so I can make myself fresh broccolli soup in one mug!!

I also make slush for my son in the summer, and smoothies, and use it for whipping cream, making breadcrumbs, making cappuchino, frothy hot chocolate, fresh pasta sauce made and cooked in the cup attachment - the list is endless.

You can also get a similar product called the 'Ultimate Bullet'

If you do a search on eBay for 'Magic Bullet' you'll see some quite cheap.

    Hope this helps
