Hi
I am wanting to start making my own cakes and bread. I can not afford a bread maker or a food processor, but have saw a deluxe hand mixer in argos. It comes with a dough hook and twin beater for £14.99.
Can anyone tell me if this is a waste of money or will it be worth it. Will it be good for kneading.
Thanks

I use the tesco value one - i think about a fiver. these come with dough hooks and i use mine every day for bread. They usually last me about a year and a half before they burn out - i don't know much more reliable the deluxe version would be

Argos's cheapest breadmaker is £26.99. Could you manage for a bit making bread by hand and then buy a breadmaker? The supermarkets may have cheaper ones, and you might even be able to pick one up at a car boot sale. Mixing dough is quite hard work for a handmixer and they do burn out quickly. It's usually less work to do dough by hand and use a mixer (mine only cost about a fiver too) for cake mixes.0
