Credit Report - settled accounts

I have a copy of my experian report and it has 10 items in the accounts section that have all been settled in the past 6 years.
Can these be removed from my file if so how do I do it?

Mostly credit cards, loan and HP agreements all paid on time.

would this affect how mortgage companies look at me?

I have 2 defaults from exisiting agreements along with other cards that I am paying off but I currently score 900 so would getting the dormant items make a difference to how my credit history is looked at.

Thanks in advance

  • Settled accounts drop off after 6 years. Even defaults whether paid or not. nothing you can do before then if they are all yours and the information is correct.

  • with regards to the ones that have a default is the six years from the settlted date or default date?

    for example
    capital one
defaulted on 06.04.09 have been making regular payments since then and prior to that date, does the default drop off even if there is still an outstanding balance that is being paid off?

Its the earliest of 6years after the date a debt is settled, the date a debt is defaulted or the date its last updated by the creditor (if they simply stop updating it - very rare). So on a defaulted debt its always the date 6years after the defaulted date always comes first.
