My DD and DDIL think I am hard to buy for, can't think why. I don't drink, don't like plants (well I do but I kill them), get fed up with half a dozen bunches of flowers on birthday/mothers day and none rest of the year. Not mad about boxes of chocolates, buy the books I want to read, don't generally watch DVDs. I can't use smellies as DH is allergic so I set him off sneezing non stop if I use anything perfumed.

Best present I ever had was a voucher for one large black bin bag of ironing, I phoned lady and she collected all my ironing and brought it back done. Heaven. I like practical things, this Christmas I would love some glasses, I have lots of odd ones due to breakages so a matching set would be nice. I would love some nice new towels. I love photos of my children and grandchildren, can't get too many. Gloves as I am always losing them. Bars of my favourite chocolate, don't know why they insist on buying boxes I don't like as bars aren't "special" but I like them!!!!! A new mug would be nice, maybe with some nice coffee or drinking chocolate and some nice biscuits. If they want to give me a bit of luxury a voucher for a facial or manicure. Not too difficult and I give enough hints but for my last birthday I got a DVD, flowers, more flowers, plants, several boxes of chocolates. Oh well I loved them all but its a shame no one listens.

You'd be really easy to buy for mumps. Be kind to your DD and DDIL and drop some heavy hints this Christmas, failing that print this list out.:T

Maybe I will print it out, either they are a bit dim or I am not good at hints and I don't think they are dim so that leave me.

What about a garden gift? Something like a bird feeder? Or a filled planter? I love getting those sort of things - they last forever and can bring a lot of pleasure to people.

Alternatively, a facial or massage is always a bit of a treat!

Oh heck, I'd forgotten about this and now it's resurrected itself! Thank you all very much for your kind suggestions. I ended up getting a scarf I'd seen which I was pleased with as it looked like more than it was IYKWIM, and then was just going to get some flowers but randomly saw some fruit plants that were well within the rest of my budget so picked up one of those, as she does garden and grow things.

Hope this thread helps others too!

I also hope the plant grows, it claimed it was/would be a fruit bush but to me it looked very much like a stick in a box...

I was just about to suggest a scarf! I bought a lovely one for my OH's Grandma; a silk Oscar De La Renta one from TK Maxx for about £12.

    Glad you got it sorted!
