Making flavoured oils? Where to buy oil?

Im thinking of making up a few different flavoured olive oils as christmas gifts this year. Can anyone recommend where to buy cheap (but nice!) olive oil? Not sure how much I will need, is 250ml okay per flavoured oil? Maybe making about 12-14 bottles of oil, so maybe only need approx 4litres.

And any links to how to flavour oils, how much herbs etc to use would be brilliant :)

thanks x

  • What about a wholesaler? Know anyone with a Macro/Costco membership or similar?

  • Oh thank you for that! I really did think it would be a case of slapping chillis in oil and mixing it about :o

Will read through this before I start :)

i do wonder at people buying flavoured oils TBH
it is easy and they can be so expensive

Not been here for very long time. Searching on exactly this topic and glad I did. Botulism OMG

I only use dry ingredients to flavour oil, garlic salt, chilli powder etc for my different oils. In fact when any spices have lost their mojo, I throw them in yet another olive oil bottle.

Makes for some easy lovely flavours on pasta etc........I just can never replicate them again :rotfl:
