unknown charge on title deeds

Hello,

I'm after some advice. I remortgaged my house with Halifax in 2004 and redeemed the mortgage in 2006 when I paid it all off. I can see that on my title deeds there are two charges - one in 2004 and a further charge in 2007. There is no name etc for the 2004 charge however the 2007 charge is by Halifax.
This 2nd charge is a year after the mortgage was paid off.

How can I found out what this charge is related to as I am in the process of going through another mortgage and the proposed lender is asking for an explanation.

All I can suggest is ask Halifax.

Is there a reference/roll number shown there so you can refer to it?

There's no roll number. All there is, is the date of the charge and a refernce to the Halifax.
