Say no to 0870 numbers websites with extra charges

For anyone that might have to use a mobile to call an 0800, 0870, 0845 etc numbers, try visiting the 'Say no to 0870' webpage. Simply type in the number you need to dial and the site will bring up an alternative number that you can use that won't charge you a premium. I've used it lots lately as I don't have a landline and it's saved me loads of money. 0800 numbers can be so expensive especially as you normally have to wait in a queue for what can sometimes be half an hour!

  • Thanks Natalie, have used this site to use up "free" minutes on mobile and keep costs off landline bill. :)

The "free" minutes with mobile contract aren't free as you're already paying for them in the headline bill price so If you paid for them, use them up!!

    Yes and No.

Yes: they are charged at 'local' rates (which tend to be the same as 'national' rates now)

No: They are not local calls eligible as far as inclusive packages are concerned. People may have 'free' local calls as part of a package they pay for, but these may not count.

The same website will work for those numbers aswell, although a local doctors surgery might not be on there. If you know their number from before it may still work - or even asking the staff for a local number (say you can't ring 0844 or something)
  • The 'Say no to 0870' webpage has saved me £££s over the the years. Highly recommended.

If it's not on the website, and you find out what it is, you can add it on there too :)
