Poppy Day is a hairdresser, devoted to her husband, Martin, and blessed with a sunny disposition. Martin is the one constant in her life, but when he joins the Army in search of fulfilment and a better life for them, things take a dramatic turn. Martin is taken hostage in Afghanistan and, battling against Army culture and procedure, Poppy decides to try to bring him home herself and enlists the help of Miles. a journalist in favour with various Middle Eastern terrorist organisations.
Fuelled by naivety, she feels that nothing is impossible for the man she loves. Her journey to Afghanistan forces her to pay a very high price and incurs some heartbreaking consequences.
