Hello,
I am looking at ideas for christmas for my 4 year old son and would like to get some sort of educational computer type game. I however have no experience of these type of games and would value advice.
I have come across 2 different ones the Leappad Explorer or the Leapster explorer. Does anyone have any expereience on either of theses or can you recommend something similair.
Thank you in advance for any replies.

Not had any experience of either though Tesco are selling the Leapfrog LeapPad Explorer for £79.97 though you might be able to get this for£63.97 if you use the voucher code posted here.
Otherwise try searching the MegaShopBot.0 -
i think the leapad is the latest one
but the games seem to cost £20
and while it touted the much vaunted word apps, I'm having difficulty finding the apps as oposed to the cartridge type games
Edit: of course, you have to buy a card before you can take a proper look at all the apps0 -
I bought my children the leapster explorers for Christmas last year and have to say they were a great buy. The consoles themselves have been extremely robust and survived being dropped numerous times. The games are quite good and the children got to grips with them quite quickly. The games available online are good too. The leappad doesn't seem to do much differently even using the same games. There is a camera installed but you can buy the camera attachment for the leapster. Plus I find the leapster easier to hold for little ones and easier to pop in my bag when going out.0

Bought my granddaughter the Leapster 2 console and Disney Princess game for her birthday (early Sept). She is only 3, and the game is still a little too advanced for her, but the pre-loaded software on the console is really good. She has hardly put it down since her birthday, and it is really educational helping her with letter formation, and pen control via the stylus, with lots of stuff on it such as mixing colours to make new colours.
Also her parents are able to track her progress on their PC, as well as get downloads to the console. (Not sure how exactly - they have just told me they can!).
I understand that the leapster explorer is more of a games console, whereas the leapster 2 is more educational (that is only what I was told by childs parents though).
The games are expensive, but have found them to be cheaper on Amazon, and will be adding to her stock of games at Christmas.0
