Please help i just need some advice. My husband and i are in debt, which we are dealing with as we have a dmp with cccs. We are mortgaged owe £97 house worth £170 so there is profit in it as we bought it as a wreck, I have just completed a university course and am nnow supply teaching so we have extra money coming in.
All sounds good so far......
I am at my wits end the house which we have lived in for 10 years is still having work done on it and im sick of the amount of money, time, dirt etc it is taking. Due to our situation it has put major pressure on our marriage and i am now in the position of wondering wether to carry on or just leave and start again. My OH is a good man but has no clue with money and I am sick of constantly having to take control of it all.
We have 2 children so this is not a decision to be taken lightly.
I really am in a mess and dont know what to do.yes I have tried to talk to him about this but he says he doesnt know what to do well ditto
please help.

Hi getting sorted.
I really cant offer any useful advice because I'm new at this but someone will be along to offer some assistance.
Maybe post up a full statement of affairs (SOA) so people will give you lots of great advice. I'm sorry I can't help but keep posting!

Hi its not unusal for one half of the partnership to deal with the £££ side of things, just make sure hes aware of it all from time to time
sounds like you have around 70k in equity,is the house now in a saleable condition?if not could it easily be made so?then why not try and sell it and buy something that wont need too much work
you say your OH is a good man and that you have 2 kids, for all your sakes you need to sit down and have a serious chat0 -
Just a wee note to say hello and good luck. Still new, so not best for advice but bumping you up the forum list again at least!
There are plenty of lovely folk who will help you make a plan and figure out what to do. As Hightower says, SOA would be a big help in helping folk advise,

Hi there
Been here and done this! We ahd a right wreck of a house and everytime we went to do a small job it turned into a massive one. TBH some of debt is prob still from that house we never have seemed to be out of debt since we bought that house.
Thing is leaving would make no difference. You would have to sell the house and in the current market and unfinished how much would you really come out with. If you split would it even be enough for you to put a mortgage in your own name. Could you afford mortage on your own, and if you couldnt you wouldnt be housed as you have made yourself intentionally homeless etc
It so horrid when you feel like your constantly chasing tour tail and the house is so dusty and unfinished all the time but i think i maybe wrong, but you just want to leave because it would be away to end this mess you are in. I think it would be the start of another load of problems.
If your hubby is as great as you say and he not understanding why not write it all down? He may understand better then.
I dont know how dmp etc work but im guessing that means no more credit (sorry dealing with my debts but never missed anythin) so changing mortgage for better rate so you can maybe get house finished not an option? or going interest only for a year? dont know if this helps but do feel for you keep your chin up it will get better xMum 30k/29000
