Valentine's Day Moneysaving (flowers & gifts)

I recommend https://www.post-a-rose.com for reasonably priced high-quality flowers that arrive in very good condition and stay that way for the guts of a week.
I've ordered from them many times over the past three or four years and on the single occasion that there was a problem (two heads had fallen off a 24-rose bouquet in transit), they apologised profusely and offered a refund or a credit for the full amount.
Prices include standard UK delivery [edit: I should point out there's no surcharge for Northern Ireland customers :-)]. Valentine's flowers include free express (guaranteed) delivery.
They have never failed to deliver on time. For me, that's more important than just getting the absolute cheapest flowers.
Forgive me if anyone else has already started a similar thread. I searched but found none.
This thread was inspired by a tip from Monkeysaving? on these boards, who points out that anyone with an Egg credit card gets half price flowers (50 per cent instant cashback) at https://www.0800flowers.com. Buy through the link on the cashback section of https://www.egg.com. There's also a link to this on the top left of the 0800flowers homepage itself.
I know that a lot of people will say 'just save money by not buying flowers' but my girlfriend loves receiving them and having them round the house so I like to treat her when I can.

I also like receiving flowers but have agreed with my H he won't buy them for me on Valentines because of the inflated cost. Instead he buys them for me a few days later when the flowers go in the sale! I am far happier with this as I would rather he saved our money.
It also doesn't bother me if he gets me roses as they don't tend to last as long as other bunches of flowers. Give me a nice bunch of lilies anyday (particularly as they act as a deterrant to the mother in law:rotfl: )MFIT No. 810 -
In that case i would buy Lillies every week!!!!0

As far as I know, https://www.post-a-rose.com don't change their prices around Valentine's Day.
They do special bouquets but I think those are just to make it easier for people who don't order flowers often.
I figured that starting a thread about this a month before the day would make it easier for people to get organised and save more money rather than get stung by buying expensive rubbish at the last minute.0 -
post-a-rose - 24 roses outside of valentines day period is £47.50, but between 9th-17th feb it is £75 !0

I've used HotelChocolat before to send "Chocograms" - they tend to be very well received!
The chocs are all gourmet ones made by a variety of "famous" chocolatiers (although I've never heard of 'em!).
My missus likes them anyway and when I've managed to get a sneaky taste I've been well impressed!

We were members of their "Chocolate Tasting Club" for a while but ditched it when we started moneysaving0 -

Oh yes, I had some of their chocolate last year and it was fantastic - they do some little white chocolate balls with a blueberry filling that kind of explodes into tanginess in your mouth. Its very expensive though so just a treat now and again

How about http://www.sunnysideflowers.co.uk
It's actually a farm which grows and mails it's own scented narcissus flowers.
You can add a card with you own personal message and they are sent by 1st class post. You can also order in advance and select the date you want them mailed. Prices start from £7-99 inc delivery and if you are on the mailing list you occasionally get discount codes as well!
So if you are looking for some cheap fresh scented narcissus (daffs) this is the place to go :j0 -
Maybe not as romantic as flowers or chocolates, but...
