Hi everyone
I've never poasted in the loan section before but Martins program the other night got me thinking...and has raised a couple of questions for me...
Firstly I took a loan out with the halifax about 3 years ago and paid ppi at the time with the loan that loan was due to finish nov next year...however I paid it up early...I am self employed and now realise I wouldn't have been paid out as stated when I took it out...have I got a case of mis-selling?...can I claim anything back?...if I can how do I go about it?....all my accounts are with the halifax so will they make it awkward for me?...I don't want to leave them as I have a good relationship with them...any advice would be apppreciated...thanks

You should send their customer services a recorded delivery letter saying you want to make a complaint regarding miss selling of PPI as you were self employed at the time the loan was taken out. See where that takes you.

Thanks for that...I will do that...I did phone them today and said that I'd been mis-sold it but they say I wasn't as it would've paid out if needed...I've looked at the booklet and it looks like it would ...it says as long as you are paying NI contributions if you are SE...maybe have to put it down to experience
  • I do know that Halifax loans do pay out if your self employed as long as everything else is in order (same as if you are employed by a company).

Thanks for that...I've read the terms and conditions now so will leave it...thanks you 2 for replying
  • They do cover self-employed as long as you pay the correct class of National Insurance Contributions

There are a few differences as in not for loss of work, but business must be round up with insolvent specialist ect and does cover for accident, sickness (after 30 days), death and criticall illness

as you state the leaflet states what is covered and what is not

Thanks for the replies....that loan was paid up earlier this year and my new ones I haven't got PPI on...I just thought that maybe I hadn't been covered properly at the time but obviously I was...so I hadn't been mis-sold....so that's ok...Thanks for your replies everybody
