I think this is going to be store specific but 4 stores in my area all have this available
Glade candles in huge box on end of aisle (normally at end of air freshner aisle) The big box states bogof but the candles are also half price £2, i guessed they wouldn't have both offers running together and when it came to pay they were £2 each with no bogof, so customer service refunded dtd. eg bought 8 X £2 = £16, refunded £16= free :j
travelled around 4 locals in my area and they all had these, same boxes and half price. Now have 40 of them:D
Hopefully this works across the country

Tesco's overcharge policy is to refund you double the difference if you are overcharged. The OP was overcharged by £8 so got £16 back on double the difference (DTD)0 -

I use them in every room in the house so this wasnt a buy just for the sake of it, thought I would also put some towards xmas hampers etc

In my local the B1G1F sign on the cardboard display has been covered over with an A4 sheet announcing the half price offer. If you're not scared, you're not paying attention0
