My mum nearly bought one of these in tesco yesterday at a whopping £14.99 per kilo. There was no price per kilo on the turkey or a sel. And to top it off customer services couldn't even work out the price per kilo with a calculAtor

I can't understand why anybody would buy Bernard Matthew's products at any price0

After watching a programme ages ago about the way the turkey's are treated..I vowed never to buy their products again..plus they bulk the meat up with salt, water and additives..once cooked they shrink. Best finding a local butcher. Works out much cheaper and much better quality of meat/poultry.
Don't be pesimistic or optimistic...if you are realistic you will never be disappointed

My mum is getting on a bit and just wanted to cook a nice family meal for her family today. She thought the crown would be a bit more expensive per kilo than the full turkeys, but not double the price. So I was just posting basically to say if anyone out there is as stupid as you obviously think my mum is to want to buy one of these products then to be aware of the price per kilo as its not shown anywhere on the product or on the shelf.0

samroo.......
I think its down to personal preferance when it comes to buying Bernard Mathews products...and supermarkets own branded turkey items, as the majority of htem come from B..M too.
Me personally dont touch his stuff.... but thank you for the heads up, as some people will be buying their christmas food on a weekly basis, so not so much of a sting come christmas week etc..
I should imagine you advice, and heads up might be for other frozen joints of meat etc too..
Hope you had a nice family time.....together, and didnt eat toooooo much....:TWork to live= not live to work0 -

a crown is normally more per kilo than a turkey, but remember you are getting all meat and not paying for the bones. i have been buying crowns for years, less waste. for future ref, go to farmfoods they do a lovely chicken crown joint for just a fiver0
