It does that when it primes itself until soap comes through. Has any soap came out of it yet? if not is the cartridge firmly in the dispenser?

try pulling the cartridge out, then the batteries, put the batteries back then the cartridge. Might force it to reset itself.

no still ticking driving me mad now think I might take it back tomorrow and try get another one. I got the new stainless steel look one rather than the white one.
