you shouldn't get married in a castle unless you own it.

TBH this seems a reasonable rather than brilliant price for 60 guests in a nice location.

The thing you have to watch out for when you book a single venue is that they usually tie you up with enormous amounts of red tape which make it impossible to get any money back if you cancel. And this package "excludes suppliers (photographer, florist...), registrar and planning" - venues such as this often dictate which suppliers you are allowed to use which can bump up the price considerably.

If you really want to get a very individual wedding on a budget price it pays to investigate separate venues and to avoid the 'wedding' industry. I'm just going by what I paid 5 years ago for a fairytale Castle (cost us £250 plus the registrars fees but I know it's £550/£650 now) and reception at a first class restaurant which we booked out for the event which I think was about £1,500. The whole lot including a bespoke cake from choccywoccydoodah, wedding dress, medieval costumes, harpist, accommodation etc came in at well under £5K and we really didn't stint (I think hubby's boots were £315!) but I did shop around and I didn't use 'wedding suppliers'.

  • Fantastic offer for anyone wanting to get married in a castle. I stayed in a castle on my honeymoon, it was the most amazing place, such a great experience. I felt like a proper princess :D

As a wedding photographer I have a pretty good grasp of the wedding supplier chain and just over 2 grand for a castle venue down south is absolute steal. even for somewhere up north it would be a lot more than that (excluding all of the exclusions as well). There are places round here that charge over £10,000 for the same.
