Hi thinking of organising a Trunk or Treat for Halloween. Any one ever been to one or planned one. Any tips most welcome. I won't be doing all the work, delegation is my middle name. There could be 50 kids, various ages and adults.

Your not thick colleen, I didnt have a clue either, from what I can see from google, everyone with a car decorates the boot and puts their 'treats' in the middle. The kids and their parents go from trunk to trunk doing their trick or treating. Its supposedly a safer way to trick or treat as kids dont have to knock on strangers doors or cross roads as all the cars are in the same location like a car park, cul de sac etc.
Edited to say: Looking through the american pictures there are some really cool trunks, people had made games in the boots of their estate cars, like throwing a ball through 1 of 3 holes cut in a piece of wood that fit exactly in the boot space. I assume you had to 'score' to get your treat. There were also trunks that had been dressed up as front porches complete with stuffed old crone

oops sorry everyone.
My daughter lives in America and said it works great at their church. Everyone stays for chilli/rice etc and the children get to collect their goodies. I am thinking of having the families bring their pumpkin, already carved, for a competition. Also a fancy dress competition and some fun games. I have mentioned it to a couple of friends and they are game. I have a list of approx 30 families to decorate their cars so even with only 50% being able to be there that is still alot of treats etc.Nothing Changes if Nothing Changes0 -
you would probably end up with your car being nicked where i live! think i'd rather loose my doorbell again (they nicked it last year as i didnt answer door - but couldnt answer as i was out at a party!)due to spilling coffee :coffee: on my keyboard it works when it wants to :rotfl:

Ooops again. :rotfl: we stay with the cars and freeze! Whilst children walk round, look at decorations etc. Cars locked when we go inside!Nothing Changes if Nothing Changes0 -
Well Trunk or Treat was last night and it was a total success with people asking for it to be repeated next year. Approx 20 cars were decorated and the rain stopped about half an hour before we were due to start. There was about 50 children with parents and extended family. Such a success that people lingered outside for ages. When we came in we had soup and bread plus cakes etc. We had a few activities inside but not really necessary as everyone just stayed around chatting. There was well over 100 people there and the positive comments were great. Can certainly recommend this idea for a safe and very "rewarding" activity for the children!Nothing Changes if Nothing Changes0
