I have read on a finance section on AOL that defaults stay on your credit record for 3 years max after the last payment and CCJ's last for 6 years. Surley this can't be correct? I was under the impressionthat all defaults etc stayed on your credit file for 6 years from the date of the last payment. Can anyone clarify this please?

Defaults will stay on your file for 6 years from the date of default, regardless of whether the debt is paid or not. It is not 6 years after last payment.Donedoingdebt Lightbulb moment January 2000. Debt at highest approx £102,000. Debt now (October 2009 - absolutely fork all!!!):beer:

Can i jut check this, if a default is given in off the top of my head say 2000 in 2006 i take it the credit file would become clear?0
