Public Sector Additional Pension lump sum payments don't work like Personal Pension contributions. The whole gross amount is paid.
Sorry. Jumped in and answered that one too quickly thinking it was a conventional pension. Didnt spot it was the hybrid scheme until you pointed it out.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). So finally i have a new tax code. They have put the £5560 lump sum as 'job expenses' and my code has changed from 725L to 1339L for the period april 11 to april 12.
I really dont have the foggyist, does a change from 725 to 1339 sound right? Its a huge difference. I understand you dont know my personal circumstances... Theres nothing of note! I just want to be happy that this change is correct and i wont have to pay them back later down the line.
Thanks£2019 in 2019 #44 - 864.06/20190 -

They seem to have given you an allowance of £6145 which is a bit more than I would have expected. However without knowing full details it's difficult to answer.
Normally your tax code would have been 747L so you seem to be a bit lower than the norm. An entitlement to a a uniform cleaning allowance ( if you waear one) would also see it higher.
Have you received your P2 coding notice? If so what does it say?0 -

Thanks jem. My code has been lower because i went over the 40p per mile expense which then became a benefit! I do get the uniform, subs etc allowance. Its the change to 1339 i'm concerned about.
Yes i have the p2. It syas: Your new tax code is 1339l. we have included £5560 because you previously claimed that amount against tax. We will carry on including this in your tax free amount unless you tell us it has changed.
I've got a tax free amount of £13396 altogether!£2019 in 2019 #44 - 864.06/20190 -

That would normally be £7475 plus £5560 which would be £13,035. I don't know what allowances you would normally get for uniform and professional subs but would it amount to £361?
Not sure what happened to the extra tax they were deducting because of the expenses.
Does your P2 give a breakdown of all the allowances and expenses?0 -
Personal allowance 7475
Flat rate job expenses 100
Job expenses 5560
Professional subscriptions +261
=13396£2019 in 2019 #44 - 864.06/20190 -

Seems fine then apart from the bit about going over the 40p per mile thing. That seems to have disappeared.0 -

They must have missed it off... It was in my august p2 as taxable expenses payments -£580. I'll give em a ring.
