Is Ocado going downhill?

I am getting my groceries from Ocado. I used to get them on the monday night between 6 and 7. There was 2 or 3 instances where they had warehouse problems and was told my delivery would be late. But as I was told that my order might be delivered after 23hr the same evening and I wake up at 4 to go to work, I had to have my groceries redelivered another day.
Because of that, I decided to change my Ocado reserved to saturday morning.
Was this a big mistake?
I had 4 saturday deliveries so far, the 1st time I had one missing item (can happen, not too bad), the second time I had 3 items missing, (then had a phone call from Ocado to apologise about it), then I had no items missing, then today I have 4 items missing. There was a list of substitutions that could have been made for some items but they were not substituted. The items ordered and their possible substitutions showed all in stock.
I have 2 substituted items, but have rejected them both as I think they were not a good choice.
I still believe that the customer service is still second to none when problems arise, but I still want all of my groceries delivered. Before I moved to saturday, I had the occasional item missing, but now it seems that weekend deliveries are not of the same standard as the rest of the week.
Has anyone else experienced the same problems with their weekend Ocado deliveries?

  • Substitutions and missing items are not un-common but they happen less than with i.e Tesco, ASDA etc. as Ocado don`t pick from the shelves of the supermarket but from a warehouse in Hertfordshire. Some customers believe their food comes from the nearest Waitrose, it does`nt.
The reason items show in stock and then you have that item flagged when delivered as a substitution or missing item is because Ocado have tens of thousands of customers. At the exact point you were putting together your list the item was in stock, by the time it came to be picked it was then out of stock because other orders were ahead of you.
I have not seen any pattern in substitutions or missing items depending on what day of the week you have your delivery. Stick with Ocado, they are currently building their second warehouse. Anybody would think I work for them :p

i done this the other day and stocked up on a few things. 1 thing i will say, is they didnt stop sending texts reminding me i still had time to amend my order.

its my 2nd delivery with ocado and both times i have been pleased with the service, the delivery was also free as i choose 9-10pm thursday and because it was closer to 10pm we was impressed with the driver for gently knocking instead of using the door bell.

cant say i am that impressed with the receipt, its confusing lol

i don't rate the ocado branded stuff they have started doing as much as the waitrose brand - complained about the sausages I got his week and got a full refund quickly

I have tried a few Ocado branded items and have been impressed. Their bacon is really excellent - better than Waitrose!

I will stick to Ocado, because I had a good service when my orders were delivered on mondays, and it seems since I move again, this time to friday night deliveries, it had gone back to normal, meaning there is the occasional missing item, but I believe there definitively was a problem with my saturday deliveries, I have never had that many missing items on a weekday delivery.
