Please help me!!

this is my first post so please bear with me if it comes out as waffle as im sat here in a right old state after not sleepig a wink and feeling sick with worry.

ive stupidly due to circumstances of the last few years run up debts of 15k

the companies i owe are Provident, Very Catalogue, Capital One, Credit Solutions(they took over an old Barclays loan), Pounds to Pocket, PaydayUK and Lending Stream

ive been reading the forums and think my best course of action is to get in touch with CCCS to start a DMP so over the next couple of weeks im going to move my incomings into a seperate bank account. this will have to be done gradually as i know 3 of my debts are with payday lenders and they will wipe my account otherwise

the thing thats really worrying me is the constant phone calls i will get, especially to work as they wont tolerate this, and the threat that someone, ie bailiffs, could turn up at my door. i live alone with my 13 year old son

please can someone reassure me or advise me on what any of these companies may do as i really cant see a ways out of this myself and i know i need help.

im not eating or sleeping, my hair is falling out and i feel constantly sick to the stomach with worry over all this

please can someone help me??:(

  • Hi, I am new to this also. But just wanted to say you are not alone. I know it is hard, and it feels like no one will understand you - but from what I see on here, there will be loads of support and advice from people that have been through similar experiences..

I would say well done on facing the truth, the first of many positives I am sure from posting on here. Everyone seems to be very supportive, helpful and you will definately get some ideas, answers to help you through.

    Good Luck xxx:money:

  • I would say the consequences would be worse if you did nothing..

I am going to subscribe to your thread, if for no other reason you have someone to talk to..:D

I would suggest though as scary as it may seem. Putting down your exact debts with values on here so the "clever ones' can give you advice and a way forward - you never know you may find the start to the road of DFW all today..

    Hi Iwantafreshstart

just wanted to say that you have come to the right place for help. I felt that my world had caved in four years ago when i realised that the credit had run out and i could no longer rob peter to pay paul. luckily i found this forum and never looked back.

it is scary taking that first step, however things will get better .first thingsfirst put the kettle on and sit down and relax ,you will get loads of help and advice from these forums [i know i have found them a huge support;)]

    good luck
  • Give CCCS a call, my light bulb moment was a couple of months and things are just starting to drop into place.
It was a huge decision to call them but I wish I had don it years earlier rather than waiting till my debt was so high.

  • You've made a great first step towards taking control by coming on to this site.

You might want to open a new basic bank account that the payday loans companies don't have access to (assuming they have your current details).

I'm new to this myself, so sorry I can't be of much help but I'm sure if you post a statement of affairs up here there will be lots of helpful advice heading your way very soon from the knowledgeable people on this forum.

Hang in there and take care of yourself x
  • Hello there.
First off, as someone else suggested, put the kettle on and make a nice brew.
Then get your paperwork together to find out the proper totals of each debt and the APR on them all.
I would then suggest doing an SOA (statement of affairs) - the sticky is at the top of the forum. We can then advise on how to start dealing with the debts and if any savings can be made.
As someone else earlier suggested tho, I think a call to CCCS - they're absolutely lovely, non-judgmental and will help you to start to tackle this. If you go on one of their payment plans, they can also deal with your debtors and advise on how to deal with any communication that you have to deal with as well.
We are here for you and well done for posting on here - you have support, advice and friends to help you through this.
Keep up with your communication here and in a short while, you will be wondering what you were worried about (Honest! It happened to me)
Take care and enjoy your brew :coffee:

  • what a difference a year makes!!

first of all i want to start with an apology..my depression did take hold of me and i had a total meltdown so although i have been regularly reading this board and taking some good advice i didnt feel strong enough to post any more, in fact i felt pretty worthless and didnt feel i had anything to contribute as i was such a mess.

    anyway back to now...

i did contact CCCS and they set me up with a DMP. to date i have paid back just over 2k of my debt and my annual review is due next month when it looks like i will be able to increase my payments by approx £20 a month...every little helps i guess and it will knock a few months off my DFD.

i havent had any hassle from my creditors and this was one of my biggest fears, maybe because i took control before my payments started bouncing or maybe because there really are thousands in the same position who knows but everything has seemed to go very smoothly from the start.

i would like to thank everyone who posts on here for the support and advice they post because it really does help, even to those of us who dont feel up to posting ourselves.

mentally i still feel quite fragile at times but i would really love to be part of this amazing community so as my DMP ticks along my next aim is to try and be more part of it and chat to you all more regularly.

i just want to finish by sending my total thanks and love to you all because without each and every one of you i dread to think where i would be now xx
