Diary of an Ex - (almost) Spendaholic!

This is my first diary on here, I've spent the week reading a lot of diaries on here everyone has given me inspiration. Thank you all!

I had got my self out of debt just before I bought a flat, then met my wonderful OH.

1 credit card lead to 3 then 3 Credit cards lead to a consolidation loan the consolidation loan lead to 3 CC's plus the loan, I know I should hacve cut the cards up and closed the accounts but lesson learnt now I'm back on the road to being debt free.

I cycle to work so travel cost me nothing but once the dark nights set in will need to start using the train which is still much cheaper than these high petrol prices!

I'm planning to take both breakfast and lunch to work. Will take full advantage of the FREE coffee and tea machine so this should mean 5 NSD's each week saving me about £10 a week for every NSD I have the £2 I would normal have spent if going straight off a card.

So here goes debts all apprx.
RBS - £800
CAP 1 - £520
Santander - £650
Santander O/D £1130
Debt to Family - £800
:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

Loan £125 x 36 (this is in OH name) not included in my debt plan at this stage - I will work on this once the other debt is out of the way.

I've joined the debt free olympic thread too for extra motivation.

Wish me luck

OH is at work so going to watch the last rental DVD i've had through the post then tomorrow post back and cancel. Saving £9.99 a month - On the day this is due out I'm going to pay the £9.99 to my Cap 1.

I've decided cap 1 is the first card I'm going to tackle.

Just been informed 100 days to do is XMAS!!! G whizz before that I've got 3 Niece's 1 Nephew 2 sisters mum and stepfathers Birthday gifts to buy.

This year I've decided I'm writing a list and sticking to it if i can find the gift cheaper else where doesn't mean they will be getting something extra (does that sound mean????) The more I save to pay off my cards the more I have to take them out and be the fun auntie!

Right Ryan Reynolds is calling - well from the DVD box anyway :(

    Tomorrow's task's

    Budget plan,
    Meal Plan
Shopping list ready for pay day (woo hoo 6 more days to go)
Discuss cancelling SKY movies with OH followed by Phoning SKY to Cancel the movies.
Phone DVD rental company to cancel
Call bank to get rid of this £6.95 Advantage Blue charge which i have not seemed to benefit from since I opened the account in 2009. what a waste of money.
    Then Tidy Tidy Tidy.

  • Well done :T

It's all about starting. I've started with Capital One too and it's going down nicely. Christmas shopping has started too....bargains that I found.

We saved more than we thought just by taking lunches to work and cutting out coffee from the coffee shop. It's amazing how much further the money goes.
You have to start to finish.

  • Well done Aiming high on starting your christmas shopping,

Ok so I've called the DVD rental company they have reduced my subscription from £9.99 to £5.99 so will give this ago.
Had a brief conversation with the OH about cancelling SKY movies - he wants to leave it till after xmas but that's another £45 between now and then so I've got a cunning plan (me thinks). I'm going to give him the password to my DVD subscription tell him to load it up with anyfilm he wants. I hope this will persuade him to see my way of thinking then once sky cancelled that'll be a saving of £20 a month woo hoo.

Friends birthday so took her present round - saving on this one I recycled last years xmas presents as i never use all the bath sets i get so cost me 75p for the wrapping paper and only used what i needed (which is not the norm for me and my lazy gift wrapping skills) so will still have gift wrap for Mum and sisters gifts later on. 7 cards for £1.00 so that's friend 3 Niece's, nephew and step fathers cards sorted plus a spare (just in case).

so not a NSD hey ho £1.75 spent but at least I won't need to buy many more cards.

I'm going to sort out some stuff for the free ebay listing this weekend fingers crossed I'll make enough to buy My nephews power rangers costume which I've found on ebay for £7 less!!! I love these savings.

Pants it's raining I've got washing on the line.

    Gotta go for now.

Well 2 valuable lessens learnt today and it's not even 10am!

1st one always read carefully - was offered some work (short notice) today for my 2nd job field promoting in a large supermarket. Just read 'sorry short notice can you work in **** today' so which I saw ££ signs and jumped out of bed straight in to the shower.

Re-read it which actually said sorry short notice can you work in the w*****am **** today' - er no fraid not will take me 40minutes to get there and half my earnings will go on the petro DOH!!!

2nd lesson of the day CHOCOLATE CAKE MAKES YOU FAT!!! left my normal work trousers in my locker at my full time job as I cycle in to work so put on my spare pair only to feel choked by them around my stomach and both thighs but my bum looked ok in them guess that's because the bulging rear was pulled in so tight it had no room to wobble.

so now for another goal 20lbs by christmas.

Any way definately phoning sky today to cancel movies.

hope everyone has a good sunday

    Tx

all utilities have just been changed over OH has done this to get a better deal.

Spent £1 yesterday and today out of the £2.00 a day I budget, so feeling ok about this will work on the total NSD.

Payday on thursday woo hoo will be filling the freezer up then budget for fresh food bread etc for the month I am going to stick to a shopping budget this month.

Don't want to wish my life away but roll on January no christmas or birthday gifts to buy so will be able to make a decent dent in my debt.

Opted to work on the 2nd Oct fingers crossed I get the shift it'll be £33 extra income to spend clear down those CC's

Sorry Cap One but our relationship has an expiry date!

  • lol over Christmas.

I feel the same to, I love christmas and all it entails but I begrudge spending money at the minute that could clear a debt. :rotfl:
