Sorry I have to vent my spleen somewhere and this place seemed as good as any.
Dec 05 I took finance out with Anglian Windows for a new porch and front door at chez phatbear, the finance was done through ge capital, anyway the theory was that the total of the items was in total £1550, I paid £50 deposit and then the rest of the amount over 10 years, apr about 20%, anyway the sales man told me to pay £33 for first 12 months and pay lumps off of it as I go, so i put some money away each month so I could pay it off in 12 months, so the 12 months comes and ive paid £400 in monthly payments and an extra £1010 over the year, to bring it to a virtual nil balance, anway I phoned yesterday for the balance so I can get it out of the way and start paying for Mrs Phatbears upcoming 40th birthday, and they wanted almost £700, and I was ecxpecting it to be £100 ish and now im steaming, im sure theres some clause which they will incite for some reason.
I really dont know what to do, ive got the money but i dont know if im angry with myself for possibly not listening when we bought the bleeding porch or angry with anglian for telling us some nonsense to get a sale, thing is if I knew that the intrest would be building up like this I would have paid more off each month rather than saving up till nov and paying a big lump off.
Sorry really had to sound off.
All the best

Hi and welcome to the DFW forum
Can you dig out and carefully read the terms and conditions that you signed when you took out the finance?
There may well be a penalty for early repayments!
To help reach your decisions calculate which option will cost you more...
A, continuing with monthly payments
B, paying off the £700 in one go
Use https://www.whatsthecost.com snowball calculator to help you make this decision
...Linda xxIt's easy to give in to that negative voice that chants "cant do it" BUT we lift each other up.
We dont count all the runners ahead of us & feel intimidated.
Instead we look back proudly at our journey, our personal struggle & determination & remember that there are those that never even attempt to reach the starting line.0
