Personally they tried to talk me into taking out a low cost subscription for 12 months and offered me incentives such as free membership to a dining club that gives discounts at restaurants. However other people have reported they phoned to cancel and there was no quibble so YMMV.0

I recently took advantage of the trial (just to get cashback from TopCashback) and cancelled it before the trial was up. I did it via email, gave a decent (and true) excuse about my girlfriend already having an account and they terminated the account straight away and with no arguing/bartering.0

If you want to cancel it do it online. You just go through the options and pick a reason, takes minutes and you don't have anyone phoning you. I think i waited until maybe 8 or 9pm. Just make sure that all your disks are returned0

I cancelled online last week however had to wait until midnight until the cancel option was available online.
Maybe that the cancel online option becomes available after their clsoing hours, which might be earlier at the weekend as HoneyBunny960 post indicates0 -
If cancelling, be careful not to miss the deadline when your free membership expires.
If you still have a film, you cannot cancel. You have to return the film to clear your membership borrowing record, and this takes time (post, admin of the returned film etc), so their two week free trial for example is almost impossible to comply with. You sign up. You wait for membership and film lists, you send off for a film or two, you keep the films for a few days, you put the films back in the post and try to cancel but can't, you wait..... and wait. Finally you get to cancel but your two weeks are past so you end up paying.
You need at least a one month free trial.0 -
I had a nightmare cancelling with lovefilm! I had a one month free trial, got one disk, sent it back, tried to cancel online. They sent an email saying they would put a note on my account to be cancelled. A couple of weeks later they sent me another disk, I returned it straight away cos I didn't want it, but they charged me because it didn't arrive back before the end of my free month. I was v annoyed at this point. I asked to cancel AGAIN and again the same thing happened. They said my account was cancelled but a couple of weeks later sent another disk and charged me again. I sent it back 'not at this address' the second time so they sent me an email saying they can't send any more disks until I confirm my address! If I hadn't done that I have a feeling they'd still be sending me disks. Then they finally cancelled my account. I still get spam mail from them every month offering me another free month if I join again.
It seems I'm just unlucky though reading the other posts. But I thought I'd post my experience.Oct £10 a day challenge £225.19/£310Sept £10 a day challenge: £272.13/£300Debt £1951.97/£21540 -

There seems to be a lot of confusion about the easiest way to cancel LoveFilm.
All you need to do is log onto LoveFilm after midnight and you can cancel online with no problems (and no need to speak to any salesperson).
This is the easiest and quickest way to cancel, and is done immediately.find a deal....pass it on :beer:0 -
They usually just ask you why you want to cancel - I said it was a money issue and they asked if I wanted a lower subscription - said no, job done! It's their job to try and get you to stay but all you have to do is say no, it's a 2 min phone call.0
