Temp agency have taxed 1st payslip

My daughter who is 18 has just started working for a temp agency.

She has been taxed on her first wage slip.

My question is how long will it take for her to get the tax back, as she has no previous earnings?

I am confused. Why should she not pay tax, we all have to?

If you mean that she can earn X tax free, then this is taken into account with what has been taken.

What is the tax code on her payslip?
Was this her first job (either ever, or this tax year)?
Did she fill out a P46 and hand it in to whoever does payroll? What box(es) on the P46 did she tick?

Thanks for replies.

Her wage slip apparently is on its way to her.

She has only worked 2 weeks since leaving school this year in July, and on those wages with this temp agency she was not taxed, hence the confusion now.

Maybe it will be clearer when she gets her wage slip what her tax code is.
