Company wont put F&F in writing!

Hi I owe £550 to Ann Summers, I was a party organiser but when my health declined I gave up. My unit organiser arranged for my kit to be returned since I was in hospital. However she never kept the proof of delivery and Ann Summers say they never received it, meaning I had a bill of £500 plus the outstanding on the account of £50. Then came 6 months of chasing DCA's and back and forth to Ann Summers, at times begging people to let me make a payment!
Finally Ann Summers have said the debt is back with them and I offered a f&f settlement of £200. They told me they would accept £250, and I requested that they send me out a letter confirming this, and as soon as Id received it I would pay that amount. That was 10 weeks ago, I didnt receive any letter, so I called back 3 weeks ago. Was told I had been given the wrong info and hey couldnt accept less than 50% (so £275), no apologies for being messed about. Again I asked them to put into writing, she was hesitant, kept saying we will send out a copy of organiser agreement and a statement. I told her I didnt need to see any of that, I wasnt disputing (Id trusted someone to do an important job for me, should of known if you need something doing then do it yourself!) i kept explaining all I wanted was a letter stating they'd accept the amount agreed as a full and final settlement. In the end she agreed to send this out.....and suprise suprise 3 weeks later I still havent received anything from them!!
Any advice?

You could try writing to them with your F&F offer and terms and seeing if that triggers a letter from them confirming your offer and their acceptance?

Have you written to them yourself setting out what you are prepared to offer and under what conditions?

If you haven't, then I think I would.

That way if push comes to shove you can prove that you have been trying to settle this, and it's just their tardiness or incompetence that has prevented it.

Obviously you could refer to the verbal agreement, and state that no monies will be paid until they respond in writing.

  • Hi should of said sorry that I have written on several occasions, to a couple of different departments, always recorded with copies/proof retained and they've been ignored. Was told the only way to contact the department dealing with my debt is by being directed from main customer service, they do not have a direct telephone number, nor do they receive any of their mail, it all must be addressed to customer service apparently!! Its all rubbish! I've never been in a situation before of begging to pay a debt!lol.
Theres no marks on my credit score, and I hadnt heard from any DCA's for a long time but I had wanted to rejoin as an organiser as my healths improved slightly and while I dont feel I could keep a regular job due to the ongoing health problems, but being self employed in such a flexible job, where the moneys great and I really enjoyed the job would be perfect. But after all the hassle Im thinking its not worth the stress!
