Help - seal gone on can of coke

I am such an idiot, have been drinking a can of coke all morning thinking this is a bit flat. As I have got nearer bottom could smell a horrible smell. Now realise that the can had at some point been leaking I don't know how I didn't notice! The edge further from the open bit is where the smell is coming from it's black with few drips of coke. Does anyone think I will suffer any ill effects? I guess I am thinking that it may have actually gone off if the air was getting in and my mouth has been on the edge of where it was leaking but luckily it is hardly noticeable at that edge not like the other side.

My OH is always saying I should not be drinking it and it is bad for you, he could be right this time. :eek:

If nothing else they will want the can back to test and see what went wrong (could have been dropped or something instore before you purchased it), they will send you packaging to return the can usually and then compensate you with a few vouchers to apologise!:)

Thanks Queenriderbrekke, will give them a ring. It was part of a 8 multipack, number 7 for me to drink all the others have been ok and last one looks fine. I wish I had noticed earlier don't think the smell hit me until I was tipping the can more to get to the bottom! Lol

I dont think it will harm you, just the taste will be affected but I would do as per Queenriderbrekke's post

Have just phoned them and they are sending out some packaging to send can to be tested. Offered me some vouchers first and didn't mention sending anything back and I said that was nice of them but was more concerned if the coke may have been off without me knowing. So as you said they are going to test it but not without a push from me. I can see a few small dents in top now but nothing to really suggest being dropped as dents are all around the top so some would have been on inside of package, looks more like it was squashed during packing. Will definitely be looking closer before I open any in future.
