  • I would like to echo opinion4u thoughts on your food/formula/nappies. Firstly I have 3 kids under 5 with the youngest being 6 months old. We spend £350 for all this using a mix of bulk cooking, bulk buying and economising on the brands of somethings. We are bot frugal at all and could probably slice another £100 off if really trying. For us we are just trying to be mortgage free so £350 is comfortable, for you who appears to have some issues at least in the medium term until your youngest is at school I would suggest you aim closer to the £250 mark. Once a child is over one there is generally no need for formula so if you are buing some of the 1+ year formulas tthen that could be your first saving.

Actually, they will provide much more useful and focussed advice than this section - but generally they will expect a desire to deal with debts.

I thought I'd picked out £200+ of monthly savings there before ditching one of the cars!

And they could still flush the loo after every wee!

They guys in the DFW section are actually very good. We tend to tell it how it is here. i.e. Try to get people to realise there is a problem when clearly they do not. The cruel to be kind approach. The DFW posters will give more hugs but they will also give very good advice. They wont hide from the issues there either.

Its like any addiction. You first have to realise that there is a problem before you can get help for the problem. The OP has a spending/lifestyle addiction.

I used to work in the exact department that has refused you your payment holiday. Nationwide used to accept quotes but now will only compare it to the HPI. I have lost count of the number of people who want to take a payment holiday for Christmas. Christmas comes every year, budget for it.

Everybody that has contributed on this board has made perfect sense, your priorities are all out. You need to get in touch with a debt management company - a free one like the CAB or National Debtline. Get rid of Sky, get rid of one of your cars. You are living beyond your means.
