Rockwell Debt Collection & Tessera Portfolio problem
Options
Hi, I was looking for some advice on a couple of letters I've received from Tessera Portfolio Management & Rockwell Debt Collection. I had a letter a couple of days ago from Pace Forward stating that they were trying to contact me, but using my maiden name & to contact them to verify whether I was at this address. I ignored the letter thinking that they were just trying to phish for info.
This morning I've had another letter from Rockwell stating that i owe £559.15 to RBS & i need to pay within 10 days
. As far as I am aware I do not have any outstanding debts owing to anyone & I'm worried about what to do now.
I don't really want to contact them without knowing where I stand so some advice would be really helpful.
Thanks

If you say the debt is not yours then I would contact RBS direct and dispute it. Or have you thought about obtaining your credit report to see what this debt is for?
If RBS has passed it onto a DCA then you obviously will have defaulted on such payment and it will have been recorded.:smileyheaMarried on 20/07/2012! :smileyhea

RBS used both Experian & Equifax to record information.:smileyheaMarried on 20/07/2012! :smileyhea

Thanks for the reply. I have seen my credit report fairly recently anyhow & there seemed to be nothing relating to a debt on there at all. I could write to the company questioning the debt & ask what it related to, do you think that would help?0

I get that impression as well, hence asking when the last use of the maiden name was.
Possible that it is a mistrace or that, or even both.
The other alternative if you want to respond is to send something like this letter.

Depends really on how much info there was to go on in their initial letter.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

I've only been married a few years so that name is associated with this address anyway. I've been racking my brains but have never had dealings with RBS. Could they just be looking for someone with my name & send letters to all people they can find that match? Does that happen?
Thanks for the templates, will have a read & draft a reply.0 -

It does sometimes. They shouldn't do that, but some of the more unscrupulous companies do. Or as said it might be just a mistaken single trace against your name.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB
