So, although eating something outside of the BBD might not kill you, in a lot of cases you're getting a lower quality tasting product. You might be able to eat honey that's 4k years old, but it wouldn't taste half as nice as that which was produced recently. I know which one I'd prefer to buy.
That is exactly what you would expect of a 'Best Before' surely? as after that date the chances are it won't be as good to eat but won't do you any harm. It's the same with most things that as they age they won't be as nice - If I put some meat in the freezer it will taste nicer if I eat it next month than if I leave it for a year.
Microjohn - They are getting rid of the 'Display Until' and 'Sell By' dates to prevent situations where you have more than 1 date on any packaging.0 -
unfortunately i forsee the marked down foods being vastly reduced, there simply wont be much of it if any at all. if your on a budget this is a life saver, even i as a working person can understand this, just going into my tesco and sainsbury's today chicken breast 3 in a pak now £6 when previously you would have had good deals or just be around £4 for the pack. i put the chicken breast back down its too expensiveMy Signature is MY OWN!!0

I honestly would not worry over it.
Carry on using the best before and use by dates as a guide along with you taste buds, eyes, nose and common sense.slenderkitten wrote: »unfortunately i forsee the marked down foods being vastly reduced, there simply wont be much of it if any at all. if your on a budget this is a life saver, even i as a working person can understand this, just going into my tesco and sainsbury's today chicken breast 3 in a pak now £6 when previously you would have had good deals or just be around £4 for the pack. i put the chicken breast back down its too expensive
When the price of water increases, the cost of chicken, pork etc will come down. Buy a small whole chicken from Lidl or Aldi. Use all of it - the carcass should be chucked in to a pan of boiling water to make a decent chicken stock.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. I don't forsee much change - foods that get marked down mostly have a use by date. The shop will have to sell the goods on or before this date, as now, and will mark down just as they do now.
Most likely the goods will stil have a sell by date, but it will be encoded instead of being plainly visible as now.Eco Miser
