Computer or laptop with bad credit history ?

I have had a bad credit record from a few years ago and still cant get credit from anywhere, I really need a laptop or computer for my work but cant afford to buy one, does anybody know if there is a place where I can buy one where they dont do credit checks ? I can make the monthly installments of upto 40 pounds. I have looked at brighthouse but there Apr's are a rip off !

if you need the laptop for your work surely your employer should be paying for this? or at least giving you interest free credit to buy one.

otherwise it seems you can buy a cheap one for under 400 ...thats only nine or ten months of saving £40 and that way it wouldn't cost any inteerst (and they will probably be cheaper by then as well).

ediited : have you considered advertising for a free one on freecycle?

Nobody is going to give you a laptop on credit without checking your rating i am afraid,
you are going to have to go down another route, either try and borrow the money from families, ask of freecycle or save now and buy later
  • Asking your employer for a loan is a good idea though - lots of employers do loans (no necessarily interest free as they would have to clear this with Inland Revenue, but at low rates of interest) - if you make the argument that you are studying and improve at your job, I think you stand a good chance!
Ex board guide. Signature now changed (if you know, you know).
  • Have you considered monthly rental - ideal, as they get outdated so quickly. Some employers operate such schemes, and your employer could deduct from your paypacket, so no need for a credit check.

If you need one for work, your employer should provide one free of charge, otherwise how can you be expected to do your job properly?
