7dayshop are probably the cheapests.
I just bought some AA 4 x NiMh+ Rechargeable Batteries from Vapextech, highly recommend them. 7dayshop are OK but these are much better and the charge will last longer. You can also get AA 8 x NiMh+ Rechargeable Batteries
Also bought myself a Delta-V circuit chager last week which again I'd recommend you get, anything else will ruin the batteries. A Delta-V circuit chager will optimise battery life and also minimise charging times. It was this one though I was quite lucky as it's just gone up by about £2.
You can also get a Vapextech LCD,WORLD (110v/240v) ,ULTRA FAST 1 HOUR CHARGER as well. This one is more expensive compared to the one above but does appear better.
Charging times with these chagers will vary from under 1 hour up to 3 hours depending on the battery capacity and the charge state of the batteries when inserted.0 -
Aldi were doing 4 packs of AA / AAA for £2.79...
local 99p store had 2packs, though lower capacity..Long time away from MSE, been dealing real life stuff..
Sometimes seen lurking on the compers forum :-)0 -
Argos have a deal on but not sure about stock levels, we bought one of these for the Wii remote. £3.99 for charger and two AA batteries but also takes AAA.

The batteries I pointed out are fairly priced even if they're not the cheapest. Cost effective wise in my opinion these are one of the best as you'll get more out of them for your buck. There charge time will be much higher than most others so should work out cheaper in the long run.
Purchase a decent charger as well as you won't want to damage the batteries. They will last longer if you treat your batteries well. A Delta-V circuitry charger is highly recommended.0 -

7dayshop Battery Charger V1000 for AA/AAA batteries for only £6.39 looks OK. Fitted with Delta-V circuitry as well.
Do bear in mind, 7dayshop can take some time to deliver their goods but otherwise they are fine. Took just over a week for my charger to arrive. They also use Royal Mail. Which reminds me, the blicklin' postman who delivered it left the package outside my door as well. I wouldn't mind, I was in all day that day too.0 -
Does that one switch itself off or go to a safe to leave condition?0

Sorry for the delay. The 7dayshop V1000 AA/AAA battery charger switches itself off.
Hope this helps.0 -
