Photographer Dilemma

  • I find alot of photographers charge so little if they are starting out, i found a lovely lady on Gumtree offering FREE photoshoots i enquired and we went ahead, the shots were fantastic. She has since decided she wants to concentrate on Wedding photography and is offering her services free for the rest of this year. We since booked her for an engagement shoot and was extremely happy with those images so we booked her for our wedding next year. Shes charging us £475 to cover upto 6 hours, disc of images etc .. the usual fiff-faff.

Might sound alot for someone that has little experience but she is amazing and i love her work so is worth every penny to me!

Its not how much the photographer is charging that determins the quality of the photograph!
    another day another GRABBIT!

No photographer worth his salt would do as you ask.

Ours did, he's a professional wedding photographer and was happy to take photos on the day and then send us a DVD of all the unretouched pictures. The only quibble was that we requested them all as RAW files to make Photoshop easier and he gave us them as jpegs, but they turned out just fine.

OP, it sounds like a great idea but make sure you get the right of reproduction in writing, preferably on a letterheaded page :)

  • I have a friend who takes the most beautiful reportage-style photography - she's been a wedding photographer for about a year and has only just put up her prices to £850 (plus travel/accommodation costs if required as she's Derbyshire based) for the following package:

Unlimited coverage of the whole day
All the final photographs, edited to a high standard on a USB stick
An informal consultation at no extra charge (apart from reasonable travel costs if required.)
A free one hour engagement shoot including a disc of all the final photos.

Considering the prices I've seen for packages for other people's weddings I think that's really good!

Loose = the opposite of tight (eg "These trousers feel a little loose")
Lose = the opposite of find/gain (eg "I'm going to lose weight this year")
