A quick quessie about DMP

If I set up a personal DMP with each of my creditors, does it have to be for a specific period (eg 6 months) or can it be done until it's all paid off, however long that may be.

Just trying to get my head around things before I decide whether to go it alone or go thru' CCCS/Payplan.

Thanks in advance.

Proud to be dealing with my debits although I have to admit I am scared half to death at how big a mess we are in.  Don't think I will EVER forgive myself for being so stupid!

hi there. i think either way it'd probably be for 6 months or so then you would need to do a new financial statement, so they can review your situation again and see if you can afford to pay more or less.

Most creditors agree to DMPs on a 6 -12 month basis and look for updated information at that point. If you don't send an update to them, most will contact you to prompt the update.

I'm with CCCS and i ave a review of my finances every six months. I would recommend doing a DMP with them. When i tried to negotiate with my creditors before using CCCS they were not very helpful but as soon as CCCS became involved they all excepted my offers.
