I used to buy a lot of reduced stuff from our local Co-op, but they seem to have changed their reducing policy recently- they used to reduce perishable goods by 50% on their sell by date, then by 75% or more late afternoon. Recently, they've only been doing 25% reductions. Shame as I used to get some real bargains- like the 75p rib eye steak OH enjoyed last month!!0

If the bananas are under about 4C, then they go black.
Above this, they don't.
At 6C, they keep for most of a month, well after the ones kept out of the fridge get to be inedible. (the flesh starting to discolour)0 -
My shopping habits have changed. A couple of years ago, I used to get my weekly shop online from Tesco.
Now, I get the Aldi and Lidl newsletters and go to mysupermarket and check the prices of the things that I need to buy. One shopping trip will often involve doing the rounds of the supermarkets.
Meat gets bought from the butcher in town. Although they sell organic and free range meat, the prices and quality are better than the supermarkets.
I do buy some convenience food such as frozen chips and battered fish etc, but I mostly cook from scratch so most of my shopping consists of the basics, but even the cost of those has gone up so much recently.
Our Lidl often has Mercs and BMWs in the car park, but one night there was a tractor parked there! First time I've seen that!0 -

doing the rounds is ok if you can park in one place and do all yr shopping. it may seem like u saving from what you spend, but yr petrol costs will be higher.0 -
Not much higher for me as Lidl is opposite Tesco and Asda is on the way. The butcher and Aldi are within walking distance from where hubby works, so he'll pop into them during his lunch break.0

Wish I lived near that Co-op!!!! My local Co-op is a total rip off!!! High prices (except for the b1g1f and special offers which are occasionally good) and the mark downs are a joke! I have pointed out many times that when they have a b1g1f offer on and reduce things that are on this offer that it's cheaper to buy the b1g1f than take the marked down ones as they don't EVER mark things down by much seeming to prefer to chuck things out than give a bargain!"Sealed Pot challenge" member No. 138

I think it depends on the CO-OP, as the one near my ex's house has rubbish reductions but it is near the city center so must have more people flowing through the doors - less need to reduce stuff.
Went there at the weekend, it was before 8pm though, but I got 3 X 6 sandwich buns = 10p each, a quiche lorraine = 10p and 2 prawn mayo sandwiches = 10p.
They had some meat with about 50p marked off, if I had went back later I'd of got it for 10p, but it was blowing a gale and I'd already exposed my rear end to half the when I walked outside and forgot to hold my skirt down.
Ah well, cheap food0 -

I realise that, but I was talking about how my own shopping habits have changed.0
