co-op bank question

Hello all.

This isn't technically a bankruptcy question, but since I've got a Co-op cashminder accounts because of my bankruptcy (AD in July 2010), and since I assume a fair few people on this forum have one as well, it's as good a place to ask as any.

I had to pay for an item (just under £400), and duly paid with my co-op bank card (I always breathe a sigh of relief when the payment goes through, after having the card not accepted in the early days by some shops).

The amount has been deducted from my availalbe balance when I check at an ATM, but, 3 weeks after paying, the money still hasn't been taken from my account.

Is there a limit to how long a store can wait before actually taking your money? After a certain point, does the co-op release the money back into your available balance?

I just want the money to be gone, to be honest, so that I can stop having to do mental arithmatic every time I check my balance.

Any insights warmly appreciated.

Thanks.

WS.
