It's not too late to get a new deal at current rates

The interest rate rise yesterday came as a blow as my Capped rate product ends on 1 April. Transfer to the SVR was distinctly unattactive.
But a bit of ringing around today has left me much happier. Co op Bank for one, will make an offer at todays rates and once accepted hold it for up to 4 months. There are no fees payable until completion! So if your mortgage deal is ending soon you could still lock in to the pre-rise deals by some quick phone calls this weekend. My current lender Northern Rock will honour the deal made today by phone provided I return the paperwork within 7 days of receipt. So I'm a lot happier than I was this morning.

Please excuse my very newbie question - but what do you need in order to be "accepted". I'm hoping to get a mortgage with my dad, he will be the main applicant, does this mean he will have to apply this weekend? Is this something he can do over the phone?
Thanks in advance...0
