I got this deal last Christmas as a present for a family member and it was a big hit, wouldn't pay the full price for it though.

Before you buy this product, pause a moment to think about how much it will cost you. The purchase price is just the start of your outlay.

    The pods are about £4 for 16 at Supermarkets. That's 25p a cup. Say 2 cups a day. That's £182 a year.

Alternatively, consider an Espresso machine that includes a filter basket for generic pods, e.g. Which? 'Best Buy' £53 Espresso Machine . Extract from Which? review... 'Our expert taster highly rated the espresso's super dark gold crema, & the lovely sweet dark aroma & taste'.

In practice, this is as easy & convenient as the Tassimo machine I used until recently. With the advantage of lower cost, & superior aroma, flavour & crema.

Click here for Generic Pods which fit espresso machines. £1.49 for 18. That's 8p a cup. Say 2 cups a day. That's £60 a year. £122 a year cheaper than Dolce Gusto pods.

Espresso machines that can use non-proprietary pods are much cheaper to own. Make great coffee. Your choice.

    I've been Money Tipped!
Made a mistake in the colour - it's not pink, it's Ivory, Amazon are still selling that colour for £104 for some strange reason.
I think Dixons and Curry's are one of the same.
  • I bought mine in the sale last Xmas paid about £50 for it. really wanted the one shown above as it looked nicer than the one I got. we call it the doggy one. I love mine. I had a Senseo and used to buy pods from Lidl as they were cheaper. Dolce Gusto makes a far nicer coffee than Senseo in my opinion and was a much easier. I don't use mine every day but agree the pods are expensive. Some don't even have 8 cups think hot choc has 16 pods which make 8 cups.
I have never met a calorie yet I didn't like!!

I think that's largely because Senseo machines do not operate at 15 bar pump pressure as espresso machines do, so lack the means to extract the full flavour from the pods.
