Sainsburys vouchers in Tesco ?

Just tried to use a sainsbury £8 off a £40 shop voucher in Tesco this morning. Cashier refused it so I asked her to call the supervisor. The supervisor said I would have to go around to customer services and she would get the manager.
The manager said they were not allowed to take these vouchers because they were for internet shopping! I explained that they weren't, they were valid for the shop and the internet but she said that because they had an 'e-voucher' number on the front they could not take them. After much 'discussion' (me repeating "but the sign outside said you take Sainsburys vouchers") she then admitted that she had e-mailed head office for clarification about this subject last week but had not heard back from them. She begrudgingly gave me £8 'just this once'.
Not impressed. I will probably use the rest of them in Sainsburys now as intended.0 -
I received 3 x 8.00 off a £40.00 spend at Sainsbury's vouchers. I enquired at the Customer Service desk in Tesco if I could use them and was initially told no. I said that I had heard Tesco were accepting Safeway and Sainsbury vouchers and she went off to ask someone else, coming back to advise that I could use them in store.
I bought a combination Microwave oven and around £5.00 of groceries, pciked the checkout with a young guy on it (tip I picked up here) and he didn't bat an eyelid.
Result - £8.00 off total cost.
I had emailed Tesco customer services some time back and am sure their policy was that the vouchers could only be used against a grocery shop. However, I am certainly not going to complain!
I think this whole area is a lottery.0 -
It does appear that the Tesco drivers do not know what to do with the money off vouchers from Sainsburys. I do not blame the drivers it is obvious that they have not been trained properly.
The first time I tried to hand one over the driver said I had to use it online. I duly tried online, the voucher was not accepted so I phoned Tesco's helpline, in the end I got the refund by sending it to the store that sent out the groceries. I used about three more Sainsburys vouchers after that and had a refund only once. I gave up asking why I did not get the refund as I seemed to get the run around.
Sainsburys sent me three more vouchers last week, £10 off a £50 spend. Have decided not to bother with handing the voucher to the driver, I have sent it to the store.
Tesco's in my experience are saying one thing and doing another.......will let you know if I get the refund this time !What goes around - comes around
give lots and you will always recieve lots0 -
I tried yesterday to use a £5 off voucher on £20 sale at Tesco and they told me they dont take them and that i must be getting confused with asda. have sent them an email asking to confirm. You cant take the trousers off an elephant!0

Tesco do take the spend and save vouchers, there is a large banner outside my local Tesco and I have seen it at a number of other stores. They accept the vouchers that you get from Sainsburys in the post that say "Spend xx amount and save xx amount". Yesterday I used a spend £50 and save £5.00 in the Folkestone tesco and that was totally fine. If theyare not allowing you to use them I would write a letter to complain becasue as far as I know this is a company wide scheme.
Also the problem with the person at the till thinking that the spend and save is an internet only voucher has probably come about because Sainsburys have changes the format of their vouchers and have included a rather large e-code but it does state that it can be used in store too. They look different so they have probably just got mixed up.
Hope this helps a little.0 -
Does anyone know if these spend & save vouchers have personalized codes on them so they have a record of who they sent them too .... If they have wont Asda or Sainsbury think twice about sending them out to you in the post if you are using them to go and spend £40 or £50 in Tescos0

How do you get these money off total bill vouchers? I have had a delivery today and tried to give the driver the vouchers from the Sainsburys magazine but he told me that they don't accept those ones. Felt a right fool.
. Anyway, did manage to get £15 off my total bill, so I suppose that wasn't too bad.

I presume it works with the Nectar card, i hardly use Sainsburys so they send me them to get me to shop there, if i shopped there every week and used a Nectar card im sure i wouldnt see any money off coupons.0
