hey fool, ignore tootsie, obviously just a trouble maker, I've yet to see any useful posts from him/her.

It's a very good basic idea, count me in. In fact, I may do a little research in my downtime. I used to do part time work for a charity tracking down avenues of funding, so I might be able to turn up something.

We could employ some of the DFW's as collectors! Though I do'nt think I would be scary enough. 'The Big Friendly Bailiff Co.' 'Give us your money or we won't be your friends anymore'
This year I'm getting organised once and for all, and going to buy a house with my wonderful other half. And that' s final!

  •   Really !! I honestly thought you were joking and the post was tongue in cheek.

    You're not kidding.

I see your New years resolution of NOT being an obnoxious nob didnt last long TR ?

Well why not take a nice long sea voyage in it?

Seriously, what on earth are you doing on these boards? You are no help, you have nothing of any actual importance to say, and seem to spend your time picking holes in other people. I really can't see what you get out of posting on this board. It's a bit sad that you sepnd your time like this.

Save your sympathy for someone who needs it. I enjoy coming on here and do at times help people (see those thanks next to my signature), there are also times however (and this post is one of them) where the ignorance and stupidity just overwhelm me and I can't help responding accordingly. The other main one is where armchair experts try giving advice when they probably couldn't find their own backsides with both hands - at times the advice is just downright dangerous for the OP.

Whilst some of what you say above may be true, why are you so god damn obnoxious to people ?

Note the use of the words by Tootsie 'at times'.

Bit pointless coming on a board designed to support people in financial difficulty and only helping 'at times' isn't it?

Besides, getting back to the POINT of this thread, most good ideas start with a fair amount of negativity.

So does anyone have anything worthwhile to add to this discussion?

  • Its the initial funding, offices, software, P.C's, staff, endless amounts of money are needed to set up this sort of thing.

Would be nice to deal with a decent DCA mind.

However, the banks who sell these debts wouldnt really use us. Point being they sell the debt for the best price they can get for it, if us as a DCA were nice and helpful, to be honest there is a bit of society that just wont pay and being nice will increase that amount ... thus us not collecting the debt, thus being pointless buying the debt. Does that read right... Dunno...

Like I said, the intial idea is a good one, the details will need some work. I'd certainly volunteer my time to help run it.

Are there any lurkers on the board who work for an agency that can give us the low down on how they operate, how they get the debts etc?

Either that or we volunteer Mike to get a bailiff drunk/chat him up to spill the beans..... :-)
