hi there, a while ago, i posted a problem about an old default.
https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/3231074
i have had a family bereavement so this has falled to the wayside, i do however need to get this sorted now and would appreciate advice.
the gist is that Cabot financial incorrectly hold a debt for Capital one for a balance that was partially settled.
I have letters from Capquest and Capital one proving this.
I have sent these twice to Cabot who keep saying they have never received them.
So today i have copied and emailed them to a manager at Cabot and am waiting for a callback any time now.
I had sent them a letter from Capital one saying
" THANK YOU FOR CONTACTING US ABOUT THE INFO WE HAVE RECORDED ON YOUR CREDIT FILE WITH THE REF AGENCIES.
I've contacted Rquifax, experian and callcredit today and asked them to amend your credit file. This will take 48 hrs to show on your file. I hope this resolves this for you, if you need any other help....'

The Capquest letter says
" i can confirm your account is settled and closed, as the amount paid to setlle the account was less than the full outstanding balance, your credit file will show your balance as satisfied with a special flag of partial settlement"

This hasnt been done and Cabot started writing to me in May 2011.
What can i do, i dont know where else to go with this. The manager at Cabot said that she had spoken to Capital One back in JUne and they hadn't got back to her
any help from anyone is appreciated

just a follow up, have spoken to a manager at capital one who first said it was capquest who sold it on and not them, until i pointed out i had a letter from them saying it was Cap one who had sold it.
He has been intouch with an 'external liasion team' who will confirm it was settled with capquest and call me back but doesnt know when
after that it will be settled???0 -
I don't know if the same would apply in this situation but when there was a problem on my file I contacted the credit agencies, queried it with my evidence and then they sorted it out. Might be worth a go if you are not getting any joy dealing with Capquest and Capital One direct. If I cut you out of my life I can guarantee you handed me the scissors0
