Suits for the wedding party

Wonder if any one can help
We are paying for the hire of all the suits for our wedding party (6 adults including Groom)
The hire shops seem to offer either a 3 piece package (trouser, jacket waistcoat) or an all inc package which is the 3 pieces, shirt, cravat and hankie. (looking at £77 and £99 respectivly) Your other option to hire the 3 piece and add the bits you want but the shirt alone takes you up to the price of the package.
Problem is, they dont do the cravats I want to match our colours/BMs. Happy to get them elsewhere relativly MS price.
Im thinking about hireing the 3 piece and asking the lads to just wear a normal white shirt .. ..which is an option the man in the hire shop suggested but he said you would need to go somewhere like T M Lewin as the shirts have to have "extra" long sleeves so they stick out the arms of the tail coat...other wise the jacket sleeve will look short (as its designed to be worn with a longer sleeve shirt)
Even on TM Lewins 4 for £90 offer at the mo, thats still a lot...has any one got any other ideas?

do u have a formal affair near to you?0

Are you going through one of the main suit companies?
I looked at Debenhams but for 4 adults and a child it was coming in just under £500!
So we've ended up using an old style tailors that are attached to the shop I bought my dress and its costing us £250!!! For exactly the same suits!:j Plus they actually have all the suits on the premises so any problems can be rectified straight away.
Just wondering if it was worth shopping around as I am sure you could find them cheaper by not using one of the more commercial outlets.Turning our clutter to top up our house deposit: £3000/£303.05 we're on our way!0 -
Have you asked the groomsmen whether they have double cuff shirts? Some might have them already, then you only have to hire / buy the remaining ones. M&S do some good ones.0

yeah i weve looked at Moss Bro and Slaters, just checked Debenhams and they have a £85 offer on which is full kit n kaboodle
Not sure about formal affair, will look thank you.
My dress is from Mia Sposa, they hire as well but cost more than slaters etc...any idea where id find someone like you sharpee if not attached to my dress shop?0 -
we are hiring the mens suits from formal affair, shirt, cravat, suit jacket and trousers and waist cost £100 but if you buy more than 4 you get a deal0

i spoke to slaters at a wedding fair last weekend and tbh didnt seem impressed, looking at hiring for me, best man and 2 ushers and it seemed everything was extra. found a local place that would rent everything to you, you bought the cufflinks as a keepsake for £2 a set, provided your own shoes and most were £79 or £99 for the most popular ones
i have to watch myself though, i am an ibs sufferer so have weight fluctuations of anything up to 2 stones:eek:Who remembers when X Factor was just Roman suncream?0 -
thanks for the responses, its all so expensive isnt it!0

We were frustrated by the lack of options at the big chains, then went to a smaller, local shop and they had massively more selection. Where abouts are you looking, maybe someone can recommend somewhere...
Personally, I'd find it hard to spend that kind of money and still have things "not perfect" - and I think normal collars with tails might look a bit odd...0 -
Sexy_Em - have you used / are you using Smart Grooms for your wedding? Struggling to find reviews...0
