Natwest-First time buyer-waiting times

I am a first time buyer with Natwest.
* Received provisional mortgage offer 8 September 2011
* Submitted all documents and signed direct debits for fees etc. and submitted 9 september 2011
* Its now with underwriters, I am told by the Mortgage advisor that it should take 3 working days to hear something from them
What is you experience on this? The sellers require a quick sale, and I am the one holding it up. There is a chain and all have agrred to the exchange date. They require survay by 23 sept 2011 and exchange by 28 sept 2011. I am worried if we can make it, and if it not - will we lose the flat.

I bank with Natwest hope that helps with time scales. I have been reading that it takes:
* 3-4 working days from submission
* valuation is booked and 4 days for report to be submitted etc.
But this information could be old. I am not sure how Natwest /RBS is doing now?0 -

What's your solicitors opinion?
Have your solicitors started work ahead of you receiving a formal mortgage offer? i.e. searches etc.0 -
No solicitors have not started anything. I am waiting for the survey to be instructed then will instruct the solicitors to go ahead. Yesterday was asked when contacting the mortgage centre that they want a clearer copy of my passport and id document, as they could not read the previous copy the branch had faxed them. I am on a T1 post study working visa. been here for 12 years. good job of over 10 years in UK.
WHATS YOU OPINION?0
