Free Personal Safety/ Self Defence course for Women in Manchester!!

Hi, I have not posted in this part of the forum before so please forgive me if this is in the wrong place!!!

I teach women's self defence and at the moment am running a ten week (2 1/2 hours each week on a Tuesday evening) course funded by the WEA (an adult learning organisation), this is aimed at women in improving their safety both in a physical and non-physical way.

This course is completely free and women from anywhere in the Manchester area, you do not have to be from a specific location/ postcode at all. As long as you can get there-a Women's centre in the centre of Manchester.

Please also note that any woman, over 16 can attend with limited mobility/ older age group or other restrictions.

This is a fantastic course and I love teaching it, however because there is no big advertising budget for these courses, as I work for a voluntary organisation sometimes the amount of women that may come don't know about it................that's why I am putting this post- on my favourite website!!! Because I know a lot of people come on here, more than we could reach through putting a few posters around!! And after all this is the ultimate money saving!!!! FREE! :j

I really do apologise if I should not have posted this but we want the course to run and need the numbers to be good on the course.

Please PM me if you are interested and I can give you further information.

Thanks xx

I did a short course like this in London, funded by the local police force and local council. It was really useful and best of all we had a good laugh, even though some of the people there had had unpleasant experiences in the past. It's all about giving you the confidence to go out and get a life while staying safe, not about hiding terrified behind locked doors with a can of Mace. As the advert says, if you can, you should.:)

I'm glad you had a good experience of the course in London a friend of mine did one in London too. If you know any women in the Manchester area pass it on to them.........

Yes having a laugh on the course is really important too, always trying to instill a bit of humour in the course as can't let it get too heavy!

If you could send me details as well I'd appreciate it :) I live in Fallowfield and have a disability, and I'd like to be able to go out on my healthier days without taking my cane just for personal security!
