  • Middy - wish there were more like you! I have had sighs and rolled eyes many times - that's when I can find someone to ask! (If I was quite obviously disabled I hope they wouldn't be so bad but it's not obvious my hands don't work). As for checkouts...i get asked "Would you like help packing?" i say yes then they pack 2 items and leave the rest! My hubbie does the big shops now as I get so flustered and hold everyone up!

"Own brand chocolate was also dearer."

But it's not equivalent to Asda own brand - check the ingredients. Aldi chocolate (especially the Lindt style one) is excellent and far cheaper.

This man knows too much :rotfl:

I've heard of this wondrous Aldi chocolate but can only comment on Lidl their 46% coco and every now n again they get a 77% one with coco nibs (the crunchy shells) called (San Martain I think) are just out of this world.

I also used their white stuff to make some chocolate vodka once :drools:

What really hacks me off in Aldi or Lidl is why, when the trolley costs nothing as you get your pound back at the end, people still persist in being dumb enough to carry in bags or in their arms, what they have decided to buy. I don't think that I will be surprised by the reactions to this very obvious observation.

yes i see alot of people doing that, they most likely only intend going for a few things g milk and bread but end up buying more OR they dont have a £1 coin on them and only have they're debit card on them to pay. Ive gone in before and only inteneded to buy a few bits(but we take the bags to carry round in) but come out with 2 bags worth.
  • i have a aldi between my home and the tram stop and i walk around carrying stuff when i can not carry anything more that it , saying that my aldi has a polite notice " no putting your stuff in a carrier bag " tooo many tealeafs

when shopping in aldi or lidl, i aways pick up a sterdy box on my way round. even if i have to take a few items out of it. i use this to put my shopping in on my way round the store. the box is great as when i put it in car as my shopping stays where i put it. if it were in bags it ends up all over my boot. i also on occasions pick up a box in tesco although hard to find and they always give me 3 clubcard points for this practice.
the reason i dont use a trolly is i intend to buy only a few items but always get more than i went in for so not having a trolly helps me budget by limiting what i can carry
