I really really want to buy a sack of tatties to save me spending £2 for a tiny bag in Sainsbugs. But I cant seem to find any wee shops who sell them. Anybody got any ideas ? or anybody know where I might get them in Hawick, Selkirk or Gala areas?

You can get them in Morrison's but I'm not sure how much they are. Cheaper than your standard little bag from Mr S anyway
Might be an idea if you can't find anywhere else locally?
Thanks to everyone who posts comps, I love winning prizes big and small

ask around or look online or in yellow pages, for any wholesalers that sell to the general public as well as businesses.
we have one here - west sussex - and a BIG (56 pounds) sack of maris pipers is less than £10. myself, my son and my daughter share the bag. keeps us all going for week or more and so much cheaper than any supermarket.
however, i went into morrisons recently and noticed that their value potatoes were maris pipers. and they were incredibly cheap.0 -
Hi mardatha,
As your thread has dropped down the Old Style board I've moved it over to the food shopping and grocery board to see if you can get more specific help. Were the replys on your other thread on the same topic of no help?

While I live nowhere near you, I have bought sacks of vegetables and whole crates of fruit from the veggie stall at the local market and from independent green grocer's shop. They do not often have the sacks out on show, or a visible price list but I cannot imagine a small business turning away the chance to sell on a whole sack.
Just ask.0 -
We get ours from local garages and farm shops and sometimes car boots they are £4.99 for a large sack.
But we are down here in rural England and it's potato hauling time so they are bloomin' everywhere!
Sorry can't help with any ideas close to you.
(p.s just to say I googled your towns you mentioned and they look lovely! Makes me embarrased to say I have only been North of the Border once)0 -
