Help needed - Inexpensive London wedding venues

The whole thing's just so pricey isn't it?! We looked at loads of places before we found something suitable. We started off looking on our various local councils' websites (Richmond, Ealing, Hounslow, Hammersmith and Fulham, Hillingdon - possibly some others) looking for licensed places, but they were all too small for our party. Now we're getting married at Ealing Town Hall, heading to a restaurant, and then to a community centre for the party. Incidentally, Ealing Town Hall have some lovely halls for hire which aren't ridiculously overpriced. They have approved caterers though, which isn't brilliant. http://www2.ealing.gov.uk/ealing3/export/sites/ealingweb/services/community/community_venues/hall_hire/_docs/venue_hire_brochure.pdf
Tell you where else is nice, if you want a larger evening do, Kew Bridge Steam Museum - only after 6pm (IIRC) but gorgeous! http://www.kbsm.org/ We also really liked the Trailfinders Sports Club in Ealing, but it just wasn't quite right in the end... http://www.tfsc.co.uk/
Incidentally, all the councils' websites also detailed halls for hire, which gave us a few places to visit. You just need a bit more imagination to imagine what it'll look like decorated. E.g.: http://www2.ealing.gov.uk/services/community/community_venues/hall_hire/other_venues/index.html
I would say keep trying with Conway Hall - we looked into it very seriously but they were booked on our date. I thought Avenue Halls looked really lovely and maybe wouldn't need much decor, but I never visited. Again, they weren't available on our date.
There are so many things to consider with venues - public transport options, leaving time, whether they have approved caterers.. You will find somewhere and it'll be awesome - don't give up hope!0 -
